Whether you're a longtime resident, a newcomer to the area, or someone looking for things to do near Pittsburgh, Homestead, Munhall, and West Homestead are filled with unique experiences, local events, outdoor recreation, arts, entertainment, and community celebrations. To help you plan your summer, we've put together ten great ways to experience the Steel Valley. 1. Walk, Run or Bike the GAP Trail The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP Trail) is one of the region's greatest outdoor assets. Stretching from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Maryland, the trail passes directly through the Steel Valley and offers beautiful river views, historic landmarks, and easy access to local businesses, restaurants, and attractions. Furry Neighborhood Variety Show at the Glitterbox Theater | July 6  Furry sort of show at The Glitterbox Theater! This showcase is intended to bring together a cast of characters to perform for the local and visiting audiences at The Glitterbox Theater closer to the end of Anthrocon (Sunday at 2 PM and Monday at 7 PM). The two days of performances could be different in lineup depending on availability. Acts will be arranged in a way that promotes smooth transitions from act to act, which could involve collaboration between artists.
