All that time, we have asked, what do these toys do when we're not playing with them? "How to Spot Counterfeit Beanie Babies" is a grey market VHS tape released in 1998. The tape itself is auxiliary to a speculative market surrounding Ty's line of Beanie Baby stuffed animals which, for a few short years, would demand price points in the thousands before abruptly cratering in value at the close of the 20th century. The tape was not produced by the Ty corporation, though it was permitted to use the company's branding off the books, as the point of the tape was to signify the value of the company to the niche set of whale investors who propped up the Beanie bubble in question.
