Get an inside look at one of the Steel Valley’s longest-serving nonprofit organizations during Rainbow Kitchen Community Services’ special summer open house.

Join the Rainbow Kitchen Board of Directors and staff for an evening of tours, food, games, refreshments, and community as they showcase the programs and services that help neighbors throughout the Steel Valley every day.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the people behind the organization’s mission, and learn more about how Rainbow Kitchen addresses hunger, child nutrition, and supportive services for individuals and families across the community.

Whether you’re interested in volunteering, supporting the organization, or simply learning more about the impact Rainbow Kitchen has in the Steel Valley, this event offers a welcoming opportunity to connect with staff, board members, and fellow community supporters.

In these challenging economic times, Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly and disabled individuals, and people who are homeless, unemployed, or among the working poor. And as costs for essential items rise and pandemic-era assistance programs end, we are serving more and more families every month.

Rainbow Kitchen Community Services is committed to improving the quality of life for low-income families and individuals through programs that address hunger, child nutrition and supportive services.

Who We Help

Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly and disabled individuals, people who are homeless, and growing numbers of people who are unemployed or among the working poor.

How We Are Supported

Rainbow Kitchen Community Services operates as efficiently as possible, with the support of volunteers, food donations, foundation, business, and community service funding, private contributions, and an extremely small and dedicated staff.  We also gratefully accept both food and financial donations, which are tax deductible. Rainbow Kitchen is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.

We are a strong and reliable source of aid for those in need.

Rainbow Kitchen’s Anti-Hunger Programs provide a source of nutritious supplemental food for low-income individuals and families.

Case Management Assistance

Case management assistance is offered to individuals and families on both a short-term and an extended basis. Immediate/crisis assistance and advocacy are provided as needed, including referral to other social service agencies for additional help.

Vision Services

Rainbow Kitchen works in partnership with the Pennsylvania Vision Foundation and Vision Benefits of America (VBA) to offer uninsured/underinsured and in some instances insured individuals with a free comprehensive vision exam and assistance purchasing glasses.

VOLUNTEER

In response to the pandemic, and to ensure the safety of our staff and program participants, we are not accepting volunteers at this time.   We hope to be inviting volunteers back into Rainbow Kitchen soon!   Use the button below to let us know if you are interested in volunteer opportunities when they become available.

Holiday Meals Food Drive: We try to provide all of our pantry families with foods for traditional holiday meals, but it is a challenge to acquire enough of these foods for everyone!

Adopt-A-Family: This holiday program benefits families or individuals who are participants in one or more of our programs.

SUPPORT FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

We have various fundraising activities and initiatives throughout the year!   For example, we participate in local & national days of giving and hold a Kennywood & Sandcastle ticket sale most summers.  We are very fortunate to also work with many local businesses who hold fundraising activities for us throughout the year.  Stay tuned for information on our annual fundraiser that will be replacing our Walk and Ride against Hunger (cancelled during the pandemic).
