• The Glitterbox Theater Presents: The New Olds Video Fest 2025

The Glitterbox Theater 210 W 8th St, Homestead, PA, United States

The Glitterbox Presents: The New Olds Video Fest 2025 A showcase of recent short films made by local creators. It's "New" because the videos were made in 2024 and 2025. It's "Olds" because that's the nickname for our home (notice the iconic Oldsmobile logo on the facade of the Glitterbox? It's a relic from one of the building's former lives as a car dealership.) Put them together with a one-night-only celebration of our region's moviemaking talent, and you've got the New Olds Video Festival, now in its second year. Who will take home one of Pittsburgh's most coveted awards, the Glitty? There's only one way to find out! Come on, what else are you doing the weekend between Christmas and New Years? Come watch some of your friend's flicks! Submissions are open to any movie image makers in the Pittsburgh region. Film, video, and digital video submissions with durations from five seconds to ten minutes are accepted. Email theglitterboxtheater@gmail.com with questions or to submit. Submissions are due by Friday, December 12th. Doors at 7, Show at 7:30

How to Spot Counterfeit Beanie Babies (the "Furpile" video compendium) at the Glitterbox Theater This screening will include work by Jackie Blue, Lucie Cartwright, Jennifer Marie Cella, Cecelia Condit, flavushh, Jodie Mack, Eleanor McQueeney, Bea Orlandi, Tex Saber, and Mark Zubrovich (among others). More information about the show, including other ways to view these sculptors, is available here: https://whose.neocities.org We have used toys the same way for the length of human history. All that time, we have asked, what do these toys do when we're not playing with them? "How to Spot Counterfeit Beanie Babies" is a grey market VHS tape released in 1998. The tape itself is auxiliary to a speculative market surrounding Ty's line of Beanie Baby stuffed animals which, for a few short years, would demand price points in the thousands before abruptly cratering in value at the close of the 20th century. The tape was not produced by the Ty corporation, though it was permitted to use the company's branding off the books, as the point of the tape was to signify the value of the company to the niche set of whale investors who propped up the Beanie bubble in question. The Beanie bubble is […]
