_______
Located along the Monongahela River in the Steel Valley boroughs of Homestead, Munhall & West Homestead, The Waterfront has become one of the Pittsburgh’s most recognizable destinations for shopping, dining, entertainment, and community events.
Built on land once occupied by the historic Homestead Steel Works, The Waterfront represents one of the region’s most significant redevelopment success stories. What was once part of one of America’s largest steel-producing sites has been transformed into a vibrant open-air destination that welcomes millions of visitors each year while preserving connections to the area’s industrial heritage.
Today, The Waterfront features more than 70 stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, hotels, and services spread throughout Homestead, Munhall, and West Homestead. Visitors can shop national retailers, enjoy a wide variety of dining options, catch a movie, experience live entertainment, or simply spend time exploring one of the Steel Valley’s most active commercial districts.
Home to major retailers including Target, Costco, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Petco, DSW, Ulta Beauty, and many others, while entertainment destinations such as AMC Theatres, Dave & Buster’s, Urban Air Adventure Park, and the Pittsburgh Improv attract visitors from throughout the Pittsburgh region.
Beyond shopping and entertainment, The Waterfront has become an important gathering place for community events throughout the year. Seasonal festivals, fitness classes, family activities, markets, holiday celebrations, and special events bring residents and visitors together while helping showcase the energy and momentum of the Steel Valley. Recent programming has included I Made It! Markets, Bubblesburgh, outdoor fitness classes, Kids Club events, Vibes Under the Bridge, Fall Fest, and the annual Let It Glow Tree Lighting Celebration.
Conveniently located just minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh and connected to nearby communities through the Homestead Grays Bridge and regional trail networks, The Waterfront continues to serve as a destination where shopping, dining, recreation, and community come together in the heart of the Steel Valley. Whether you’re visiting for an event, a meal, a day of shopping, or a night out with family and friends, The Waterfront remains one of the region’s premier places to explore.
