Food for Groundlings: Richard II at the Glitterbox Theater | Saturday 7pm

Food for Groundlings: Richard II at the Glitterbox Theater | Saturday 7pm
“Here, cousin, seize the crown.”
-Richard II
1 crown, 2 kings, 3 nights only. Food for Groundlings brings to life Shakespeare’s most emotional and dangerous History. A play so censored it his lifetime that it ran Shakespeare and his players afoul of the Crown’s law- at risk of their lives. This prescient tragedy illuminates the abuse of power, the cyclical nature of fortune, and questions the “Divine Right” of Kings.
Join us as Food for Groundlings presents The Tragedy of Richard II, Directed by Jonathan Heidenreich, at the Glitterbox Theater in Homestead March 20-22nd.
Established in 2011, Food for Groundlings is an inclusive classical theatre company dedicated to the exposure, exploration, and revitalization of the works of William Shakespeare and other classical artists in the Pittsburgh region.
We operate with a deep commitment to justice and equity, recognizing that diversity alone is not a sufficient goal. We reject tokenism and the perpetuation of unjust systems. Instead, we center justice and equity as guiding principles in all aspects of our work.

Glitterbox Working Artist Program
The Glitterbox family is pleased to announce the launch of our Working Artist Program. This programs is specifically designed to reduce the cost of access to theater resources, rehearsal space and other things that make performance hard to do. As a WAP participant you pay a monthly due, but get priority calendar access, free space usage, and keep all the proceeds for the art you make. The WAP program is about flipping the non-profit artist funding model, leaning into community as the center of supporting performers, and collectively holding and using the resources to make work.
