DESCRIPTION:Starkbierfest Goldenator Release Day and Lenten Fish Fridays ay Golden Age Beer Company\n\nFriday\, February 20\, 2026\n4:00 PM  10:00 PM\n\n\nGolden Age Beer Company337 East 8th AvenueHomestead\, PA\, 15120\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are kicking off our Lenten fish fry season in a big\, boozy way\, with our first ever Starkbierfest\, commemorating the re-release of our beloved Doppelbock\, Goldenator\, the release of our Fastenbier\, and the release of our first ever Eisbock! \nStarkbierfests in Germany are celebrations around the release of Doppelbock in Bavaria. These festivals began as a religious celebration celebrated by a single order of Monks\, the Paulaner Friars — yes\, the very ones whose monastic brewery ultimately became the brewery that we know as “Paulaner.” Contrary to popular belief\, the origin of their famed Doppelbock “Salvator” was not associated with the Lenten fasting obligations of these Bavarian monks (although “fastenbier\,” as a style originated for that purpose)\, but instead was brewed as a celebratory beer for the Feast of Saint Francis\, which historically was celebrated on April 2 of every year\, which only occasionally feel during lent. The beer was called “Sankt Vaters Bier” (“Beer of the Sacred Father”). In time\, the Feast was moved by the Church into early March\, the beer became known as “Salvator\,” and the festival\, which became known as “Starkbierfest” (strong beer festival)\, became a secular “volksfest” (people’s festival) as opposed to a religious one\, all some two hundred years before the advent of Germany’s most popular volksfests\, Oktoberfest! \nThis year\, we timed the re-release of our Doppelbock “Goldenator” to coincide with the first weekend of our Lenten fish fries (an appropriately Pittsburgh day of feasting by anyone’s standard). And\, to add even more power to the event\, we’re releasing two other beers. First\, we are thrilled to bring back our Fastenbier\, a smoked red lager made in the traditional Franconian style. But\, for those who REALLY love doppelbock and big boozy beers\, we have an even bigger surprise for you: the release of our first ever Eisbock. \nThat’s right! We took a couple of kegs of Goldenator\, froze them\, removed the ice\, and kept the rest. What does that mean? It means that a pour of 14% abv\, highly distilled rauch doppelbock is in your future\, big guy. \nLast\, but by no means least. Every Friday of Lent\, we’ll be tapping another guest Doppelbock from a host of other great producers. \nProst! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom crisp Northern German and fragrant Italian-style pilsners to luxurious dunkels and Franconian rauchbiers to the easy-drinking\, “lawnmower” American lager\, we believe that\, with their clean\, subtle and eminently-drinkable finesse\, lagers are the beers that bring people together\, that cross divides\, and that are both the past and the future of beer.  And so we brought a brewery that makes lager its primary focus to Pittsburgh and\, more particularly\, to Homestead.  Indeed\, we believe that to do anything else would be an injustice to this community’s hard-working\, steely heritage and resolve.  When this community rose up in 1892 to rebuff a barge full of armed Pinkertons\, it was fueled by Homestead-brewed lager\, while the very brewers who crafted that lager stood in solidarity with their steel-worker brethren on the banks of the Monongahela.  We hope that we can stand in solidarity with this community once more as it continues on its path to a new golden age. \nOur brewhouse is well-equipped to produce the finest lagers.  We are fortunate to brew on a state-of-the-art 15 barrel BrauKon brewing system.  Bavarian-made and designed to manufacture the world’s most precise beer styles\, this system provides our brewing team with the tools it needs to walk the tightrope to make perfect lager\, which is defined nearly as much by its absence of imperfections as it is by its pursuit of perfection.  In what feels like a meeting driven by fate itself\, we were fortunate to find a head brewer who is up to the challenge of working with a system that has a lofty reputation for precision and finesse. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Head Brewer Aaron Dahl\nHead Brewer Aaron Dahl joined Golden Age in 2021 to oversee the transition of the brew house and begin working on recipe development.  Aaron comes from Chicago’s Alarmist Brewing\, where he was the head brewer for six years prior to moving to Pittsburgh to head the Golden Age Beer team. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. We’re honored every time Mike drops in to play some deep cuts from his infinite database of funk\, soul\, and groove tracks. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom crisp Northern German and fragrant Italian-style pilsners to luxurious dunkels and Franconian rauchbiers to the easy-drinking\, “lawnmower” American lager\, we believe that\, with their clean\, subtle and eminently-drinkable finesse\, lagers are the beers that bring people together\, that cross divides\, and that are both the past and the future of beer.  And so we brought a brewery that makes lager its primary focus to Pittsburgh and\, more particularly\, to Homestead.  Indeed\, we believe that to do anything else would be an injustice to this community’s hard-working\, steely heritage and resolve.  When this community rose up in 1892 to rebuff a barge full of armed Pinkertons\, it was fueled by Homestead-brewed lager\, while the very brewers who crafted that lager stood in solidarity with their steel-worker brethren on the banks of the Monongahela.  We hope that we can stand in solidarity with this community once more as it continues on its path to a new golden age. \nOur brewhouse is well-equipped to produce the finest lagers.  We are fortunate to brew on a state-of-the-art 15 barrel BrauKon brewing system.  Bavarian-made and designed to manufacture the world’s most precise beer styles\, this system provides our brewing team with the tools it needs to walk the tightrope to make perfect lager\, which is defined nearly as much by its absence of imperfections as it is by its pursuit of perfection.  In what feels like a meeting driven by fate itself\, we were fortunate to find a head brewer who is up to the challenge of working with a system that has a lofty reputation for precision and finesse. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Head Brewer Aaron Dahl\nHead Brewer Aaron Dahl joined Golden Age in 2021 to oversee the transition of the brew house and begin working on recipe development.  Aaron comes from Chicago’s Alarmist Brewing\, where he was the head brewer for six years prior to moving to Pittsburgh to head the Golden Age Beer team. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. We’re honored every time Mike drops in to play some deep cuts from his infinite database of funk\, soul\, and groove tracks. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom crisp Northern German and fragrant Italian-style pilsners to luxurious dunkels and Franconian rauchbiers to the easy-drinking\, “lawnmower” American lager\, we believe that\, with their clean\, subtle and eminently-drinkable finesse\, lagers are the beers that bring people together\, that cross divides\, and that are both the past and the future of beer.  And so we brought a brewery that makes lager its primary focus to Pittsburgh and\, more particularly\, to Homestead.  Indeed\, we believe that to do anything else would be an injustice to this community’s hard-working\, steely heritage and resolve.  When this community rose up in 1892 to rebuff a barge full of armed Pinkertons\, it was fueled by Homestead-brewed lager\, while the very brewers who crafted that lager stood in solidarity with their steel-worker brethren on the banks of the Monongahela.  We hope that we can stand in solidarity with this community once more as it continues on its path to a new golden age. \nOur brewhouse is well-equipped to produce the finest lagers.  We are fortunate to brew on a state-of-the-art 15 barrel BrauKon brewing system.  Bavarian-made and designed to manufacture the world’s most precise beer styles\, this system provides our brewing team with the tools it needs to walk the tightrope to make perfect lager\, which is defined nearly as much by its absence of imperfections as it is by its pursuit of perfection.  In what feels like a meeting driven by fate itself\, we were fortunate to find a head brewer who is up to the challenge of working with a system that has a lofty reputation for precision and finesse. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Head Brewer Aaron Dahl\nHead Brewer Aaron Dahl joined Golden Age in 2021 to oversee the transition of the brew house and begin working on recipe development.  Aaron comes from Chicago’s Alarmist Brewing\, where he was the head brewer for six years prior to moving to Pittsburgh to head the Golden Age Beer team. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. We’ll be raffling off some sweet items from our local community of craftspeople and chefs. We’ll be dancing\, dishing\, and scheming for the coming of spring. Doors at 7 PM\, party til 11 PM\, raffle winners announced at 10 PM. Sliding scale $10-20 at the door. We’ll be slinging some delicious herbal beverages\, hearty seasonal delights\, and new bewilder merch. Music by our beloved DJ Opal. Dance off the mid-winter blues with us as we support our spring schemes for new growth! \n  \nBewilder grows & distributes fresh vegetables & herbs throughout the greater Pittsburgh area from May to November\, and we’re deep in the winter work of planning big transformations for our little farm. We’re working on forming a cooperative\, and in line with our transition to collectively managing bewilder\, is to lean in to reaching out to our community for support when needed. While we have some funds from last season to get us started for this upcoming season of big changes\, it was a hard year and we’re working hard to cover early season expenses that come before we have anything to harvest and offer to our communities. That includes seeds\, greenhouse & fencing maintenance\, irrigation\, and much more. We’ll be raffling off some sweet items from our local community of craftspeople and chefs. We’ll be dancing\, dishing\, and scheming for the coming of spring. Doors at 7 PM\, party til 11 PM\, raffle winners announced at 10 PM. Sliding scale $10-20 at the door. We’ll be slinging some delicious herbal beverages\, hearty seasonal delights\, and new bewilder merch. Music by our beloved DJ Opal. Dance off the mid-winter blues with us as we support our spring schemes for new growth! \n  \nBewilder grows & distributes fresh vegetables & herbs throughout the greater Pittsburgh area from May to November\, and we’re deep in the winter work of planning big transformations for our little farm. We’re working on forming a cooperative\, and in line with our transition to collectively managing bewilder\, is to lean in to reaching out to our community for support when needed. While we have some funds from last season to get us started for this upcoming season of big changes\, it was a hard year and we’re working hard to cover early season expenses that come before we have anything to harvest and offer to our communities. That includes seeds\, greenhouse & fencing maintenance\, irrigation\, and much more. The second of three libraries built here in the Mon Valley\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was built for use by the common man but adorned with grandeur and opulence fit for a royal family. The Carnegie Library of Homestead is the oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the US\, and was chosen by CNN in 2014 as one of the 27 most fascinating libraries in the world to visit. Unique to other libraries\, it also is home to a full-service athletic facility and grand concert hall. \nAlso known as the Carnegie of Homestead\, its modern mission is to provide programs and facilities that enhance learning\, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley. Today\, we serve over 17\,000 residents of Munhall\, Homestead\, West Homestead\, Whitaker\, and families in nearby communities such as West Mifflin\, Lincoln Place\, Hays\, Greenfield\, Squirrel Hill\, Duquesne and more. The Carnegie of Homestead uplifts and improves the lives of youth\, families and the elderly\, by serving as a community activities center for families and groups throughout the Mon Valley. \nThe Library holds 3\,000\,000 county-wide items in collection including books\, audiobooks\, DVDs\, CDs\, newspapers\, magazines and eResources. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. Year-round\, the music hall serves as an economic driver for nearby restaurants\, retail establishments and hotels – for every 50 shows held\, the Carnegie brings over $1\,000\,000 in revenue to the Waterfront and Eighth Avenue business districts. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. Year-round\, the music hall serves as an economic driver for nearby restaurants\, retail establishments and hotels – for every 50 shows held\, the Carnegie brings over $1\,000\,000 in revenue to the Waterfront and Eighth Avenue business districts.
