As a WAP participant you pay a monthly due\, but get priority calendar access\, free space usage\, and keep all the proceeds for the art you make. The WAP program is about flipping the non-profit artist funding model\, leaning into community as the center of supporting performers\, and collectively holding and using the resources to make work. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVolunteer or Perform with the GBX!\n\n\n\n\nDear fellow lover of theatre and performance!\nAre you and actor\, director\, tech person or simply have an interest in getting involved and supporting local DIY art making? We keep a running list of folks that might want to help out or be involved in a production or show. He started doing stand-up at the age of nineteen at open mics in his native Toronto\, and spent the next fifteen years honing his craft at clubs across Canada and the UK. In 2004\, Peters gained critical and global recognition for his CTV “Comedy Now!” special and soon became the first comedian to sell-out Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in 2007. Peters went on to set attendance records at venues from Madison Square Garden to The Sydney Opera House to London’s O2 Arena – where he broke the UK attendance record for highest number of tickets sold for an individual comedy show. \nHis subsequent tours were captured in his successful specials broadcast on Showtime and Comedy Central: Outsourced in 2006; Red\, White and Brown in 2008; and\, The Green Card Tour in 2010. In 2013\, Peters became the first comedian to create a Netflix Original Comedy Special. Peters’ most recent tour\, The Deported World Tour was seen by over 400\,000 fans in 40 cities across 20 countries and culminated in the stand-up special\, Russell Peters Deported on Amazon Prime in January 2020. \nPeters has been awarded Gemini\, Peabody\, Emmy and Canadian Screen Awards for his hosting\, producing and acting talents. His last TV series\, The Indian Detective set a Canadian viewership record for Bell Media /CTV in 2017 and was released globally on Netflix. \nPeters just launched his own Podcast\, ‘Culturally Cancelled with Russell Peters’ on iHeart Media / Cloud 10 and is currently developing a TV series based on his childhood in Canada in the 1980’s as well as executive producing the TV series ‘Late Bloomer’ with YouTube sensation Jus Reign. Peters will also be seen later this year in the feature film\, Clifford The Big Red Dog for Paramount Pictures. \nPeters resides in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The second of three libraries built here in the Mon Valley\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was built for use by the common man but adorned with grandeur and opulence fit for a royal family. The Carnegie Library of Homestead is the oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the US\, and was chosen by CNN in 2014 as one of the 27 most fascinating libraries in the world to visit. Unique to other libraries\, it also is home to a full-service athletic facility and grand concert hall. \nAlso known as the Carnegie of Homestead\, its modern mission is to provide programs and facilities that enhance learning\, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. As a creator\, he has sold shows to NBC\, ABC\, FOX and Comedy Central. His wildly innovative multi-cam half hour Titus premiered to critical and audience acclaim on Fox\, earning the show an Emmy nomination\, while Titus himself received a WGA Award nomination for his writing. Following Titus\, Christopher starred in ABC’s Big Shots\, acting opposite Dylan McDermott\, Michael Vartan and Josh Malina. He also starred in the NBC one-hour pilot\, Future Tense and created and starred in the Bryan Cranston-directed pilot\, Special Unit for Comedy Central. And he recently wrote\, directed\, and starred in a feature version of Special Unit which won the L.A. Film Award for Best Comedy Feature and the Hope Film Awards jury prize for Best Director. \nChristopher has written and starred in ten 90-minute comedy specials\, with several spending months on the Billboard Top 10 comedy chart. Her critically acclaimed multi-cam series The Ms. Pat Show\, produced by Lee Daniels and Brian Grazer\, premiered its fourth season in May 2024. The series is streaming on BET+ and Paramount+ with an edited version airing on BET linear. The premiere of the show shattered viewership records on the streamer almost crashing the app and has garnered Emmy Nominations in the “Outstanding Direction for a Comedy Series” category in 2022\, 2023\, and 2024.
