DESCRIPTION:Drew’s Clues Trivia at Golden Age Beer Co. | Every Wednesday\n\n7:00 PM  9:00 PM\n\n\nGolden Age Beer Company 337 East 8th Avenue Homestead\, PA\, 15120 United States (map)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery Wednesday\, Pittsburgh’s best trivia master hosts a brain-busting trivia at Golden Age. Drink beers. Answer questions. Win prizes! \nTeams of up to six welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom crisp Northern German and fragrant Italian-style pilsners to luxurious dunkels and Franconian rauchbiers to the easy-drinking\, “lawnmower” American lager\, we believe that\, with their clean\, subtle and eminently-drinkable finesse\, lagers are the beers that bring people together\, that cross divides\, and that are both the past and the future of beer.  And so we brought a brewery that makes lager its primary focus to Pittsburgh and\, more particularly\, to Homestead.  Indeed\, we believe that to do anything else would be an injustice to this community’s hard-working\, steely heritage and resolve.  When this community rose up in 1892 to rebuff a barge full of armed Pinkertons\, it was fueled by Homestead-brewed lager\, while the very brewers who crafted that lager stood in solidarity with their steel-worker brethren on the banks of the Monongahela.  We hope that we can stand in solidarity with this community once more as it continues on its path to a new golden age. \nOur brewhouse is well-equipped to produce the finest lagers.  We are fortunate to brew on a state-of-the-art 15 barrel BrauKon brewing system.  Bavarian-made and designed to manufacture the world’s most precise beer styles\, this system provides our brewing team with the tools it needs to walk the tightrope to make perfect lager\, which is defined nearly as much by its absence of imperfections as it is by its pursuit of perfection.  In what feels like a meeting driven by fate itself\, we were fortunate to find a head brewer who is up to the challenge of working with a system that has a lofty reputation for precision and finesse. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Head Brewer Aaron Dahl\nHead Brewer Aaron Dahl joined Golden Age in 2021 to oversee the transition of the brew house and begin working on recipe development.  Aaron comes from Chicago’s Alarmist Brewing\, where he was the head brewer for six years prior to moving to Pittsburgh to head the Golden Age Beer team. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. Founded by the same people behind Pittsburgh’s beer bars the Independent Brewing Company and Lorelei\, Golden Age is dedicated to providing its community with an inclusive\, accepting\, safe and hospitable environment that focuses on people as much as it does great beer. \nWe are an equal opportunity employer that guarantees a living wage to everyone who works here. We welcome dogs and children.

SUMMARY:Historic Rauchbier Preservation Day & Biergarten BBQ Weekend at Golden Age Beer Co. | July 23-26
DESCRIPTION:Historic Rauchbier Preservation Day & Biergarten BBQ Weekend at Golden Age Beer Co. | July 23-26\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, July 23\, 2026 4:00 PM\nSunday\, July 26\, 2026 8:00 PM\n\nWe are blessed to have great friends\, and among them\, is the famed brewery Aecht Schlenkerla brewery in Bamberg\, Germany. For six generations\, the family of braumeister and owner Matthias Trum has dedicated themselves to the preservation of Bamberg’s historic rauchbier (“smoke beer”) by producing legendary lagers that blur the line between beer and bbq\, using malts they smoke in house\, predominantly over beechwood. Their beers are beyond iconic\, and\, together with another small Bamberg brewery\, the equally renowned Brauerei Spezial\, it is one of the last two historic rauchbier maltsters and brewers remaining in Germany. \nEach year\, Schlenkerla celebrates International Rauchbier Day on July 23rd. Golden Age is proud to join that celebration by serving Rauchbier from Schlenkerla\, Spezial\, and a special batch of pale Rauchbier that we have brewed ourselves for the occasion. Our kitchen is joining into the smoked fun with a menu of German Barbecue\, which will feature smoked sausage\, smoked pork belly skewers and more. \nWith so much great beer to drink and BBQ to eat\, we decided to make a full weekend out of the celebration\, extending it from Thursday\, July 23rd through Sunday\, July 26th. We will\, as always feature live entertainment throughout the entire weekend\, and\, enjoy as much of the festivities in the biergarten as the weather permits. \nTo kick-off the festivities\, we will be serving Golden Age Historiches Rauchbier from a gravity keg that we will tap at 4 p.m. on Thursday\, July 23. Last summer\, our Head Brewer Aaron Dahl had the opportunity to spend an evening at Schlenkerla\, where he toured the facilities and dined with Matthias himself\, and learned more about traditional rauchbier production methods from a brewer who has dedicated his life to preserving those techniques. In celebration of this year’s Historic Rauchbier Preservation Day\, Aaron has brewed a beer dedicated to his experience at Schlenkerla. That beer is a pale\, low-gravity lager featuring beechwood smoked pilsner malt and Munich malt from our friends at Sugar Creek Malts in Indiana. At just 4.5%\, this historic rauchbier style is almost like a Märzen brewed for summer consumption\, and\, it is the perfect accompaniment with summer bbq. \nWe look forward to hosting you. As always\, events at Golden Age are free to the people\, with no cover charge or ticketing! \nProst! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable.

In 1988\, a group of citizens got together\, united by their concerns that with destruction of the shuttered mills an important part of our region’s culture was in danger of being erased\, too. \nThe prevailing sentiment at the time was not one of reverence for the industry; rather\, it was a stew of mixed emotions—anger for the way things went down\, loss of identity in the face of joblessness\, and fear of an uncertain future. The emotional landscape was too raw for most folks to want to celebrate what the steel industry once was\, especially when it was painfully obvious that this ‘industrial downturn’ reflected permanent change. \nLong story short: those citizens organized as a task force. Four years later\, the nonprofit organization that was to become Rivers of Steel was established to carry the torch of Big Steel and its related industries—not simply telling the companies’ stories and the products they made\, but the stories of the men and women who worked there. \nIt is a legacy was too important not to save. Relics and remnants were captured\, so were oral histories. The scope of which grew beyond the workers themselves\, encompassing the neighborhoods they represented—their languages\, their churches\, their traditions and recipes—and sowed the seeds of what was to become Rivers of Steel’s archival\, cultural conservation and exhibition programs. \n\n\nRivers of Steel: A nonprofit\, but also a place\nCreated by Congress in 1996\, the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area celebrates the region’s industrial history\, the landscape that fueled it\, and the hardworking men and women who made it possible\, linking its communities through their shared cultural and industrial heritage.

We recommend purchasing tickets in advance as we cannot guarantee tickets will be available for walk-ups. \n\nabout RIVERS OF STEEL\n\nRivers of Steel showcases the artistry and innovation of southwestern Pennsylvania’s industrial and cultural heritage through its historical and 21st-century attractions—offering unique experiences via tours\, workshops\, exhibitions\, festivals\, and more. \nBehind the scenes\, Rivers of Steel supports economic revitalization—working at the grassroots level to deepen community partnerships\, promote heritage tourism\, and preserve local recreational and cultural resources for future generations. \n\nOur Mission\n\n\n\nFounded on the principles of heritage development\, community partnership\, and a reverence for the region’s natural and shared resources\, Rivers of Steel strengthens the economic and cultural fabric of western Pennsylvania by fostering dynamic initiatives and transformative experiences. \nOur Story: A vision for the future\, built on the past\n\n\nRivers of Steel’s journey began in the aftermath of the collapsed steel industry.

SUMMARY:Drew's Clues Trivia at Golden Age Beer Co. | Every Wednesday

ALWAYS FREE to the People. FREE Parking.WE hope YOU will join our Thursday night community! \nPaul Cosentino has been a full-time musician and bandleader for over 30 years\, specializing in classic jazz and popular music from the 1920s to the 1940s. Paul plays an antique Albert System clarinet\, which gives him a wonderfully distinctive sound not often heard on today’s bandstands. In addition to providing vocals\, Paul also splits time on the alto and tenor saxophones. Paul has an extensive repertoire of tunes encompassing the Great American Songbook- written by some of the best-known composers of American popular song. He is also well versed in early New Orleans jazz\, the Swing Era\, big band riffs\, and everything in between. Paul is known globally for his enthusiastic\, energetic\, and powerful performances. \nPaul Cosentino founded the Boilermaker Jazz Band in 1988. Paul has also been featured as a soloist with many of the top bands in the swing world today\, including a special appearance with the Jonathan Stout All-Star Big Band during an Artie Shaw tribute set. Paul has also been featured with Glen Crytzer’s Rhythm Makers\, Michael Gambles Rhythm Serenaders\, the Gordon Webster Band\, Naomi and Her Handsome Devils\, the Russ Wilson Swingtet\, Clint Baker’s Golden Gate Swing Band\, and many more. He has also led a number of All-Star groups.

What’s 70s AM Gold you ask? Basically Yacht Rock’s slightly more chill\, younger sibling. Think Fleetwood Mac\, Linda Ronstadt\, Jackson Browne.
