Never a cover charge here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe love lager.\n\n\n\n\nWe started Golden Age Beer Co. because we are passionate about making clean and crisp lagers that are eminently drinkable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom crisp Northern German and fragrant Italian-style pilsners to luxurious dunkels and Franconian rauchbiers to the easy-drinking\, “lawnmower” American lager\, we believe that\, with their clean\, subtle and eminently-drinkable finesse\, lagers are the beers that bring people together\, that cross divides\, and that are both the past and the future of beer.  And so we brought a brewery that makes lager its primary focus to Pittsburgh and\, more particularly\, to Homestead.  Indeed\, we believe that to do anything else would be an injustice to this community’s hard-working\, steely heritage and resolve.  When this community rose up in 1892 to rebuff a barge full of armed Pinkertons\, it was fueled by Homestead-brewed lager\, while the very brewers who crafted that lager stood in solidarity with their steel-worker brethren on the banks of the Monongahela.  We hope that we can stand in solidarity with this community once more as it continues on its path to a new golden age. \nOur brewhouse is well-equipped to produce the finest lagers.  We are fortunate to brew on a state-of-the-art 15 barrel BrauKon brewing system.  Bavarian-made and designed to manufacture the world’s most precise beer styles\, this system provides our brewing team with the tools it needs to walk the tightrope to make perfect lager\, which is defined nearly as much by its absence of imperfections as it is by its pursuit of perfection.  In what feels like a meeting driven by fate itself\, we were fortunate to find a head brewer who is up to the challenge of working with a system that has a lofty reputation for precision and finesse. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Head Brewer Aaron Dahl\nHead Brewer Aaron Dahl joined Golden Age in 2021 to oversee the transition of the brew house and begin working on recipe development.  Aaron comes from Chicago’s Alarmist Brewing\, where he was the head brewer for six years prior to moving to Pittsburgh to head the Golden Age Beer team. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. The second of three libraries built here in the Mon Valley\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was built for use by the common man but adorned with grandeur and opulence fit for a royal family. The Carnegie Library of Homestead is the oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the US\, and was chosen by CNN in 2014 as one of the 27 most fascinating libraries in the world to visit. Unique to other libraries\, it also is home to a full-service athletic facility and grand concert hall. \nAlso known as the Carnegie of Homestead\, its modern mission is to provide programs and facilities that enhance learning\, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley. Today\, we serve over 17\,000 residents of Munhall\, Homestead\, West Homestead\, Whitaker\, and families in nearby communities such as West Mifflin\, Lincoln Place\, Hays\, Greenfield\, Squirrel Hill\, Duquesne and more. The Carnegie of Homestead uplifts and improves the lives of youth\, families and the elderly\, by serving as a community activities center for families and groups throughout the Mon Valley. \nThe Library holds 3\,000\,000 county-wide items in collection including books\, audiobooks\, DVDs\, CDs\, newspapers\, magazines and eResources. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. In the past several years\, Aaron has earned three medals in the Great American Beer Festival:  in 2018\, the Gold Medal in the Hazy IPA category for “Le Jus;” in 2020\, the Bronze Medal for the Pale Ale category for “Pantsless Pale Ale;” and\, in 2021\, the Bronze Medal in the American Lager category for “Midwest Royalty.” He has dedicated his professional life to beer.  And while he can produce some of the best IPAs and Pale Ales in the country\, over the past several years\, his passion — like ours — has turned towards lagers\, and he is excited to run a brew house that is dedicated to and designed for the same passion. \nGolden Age Beer Co. is located in historic Homestead\, Pennsylvania\, just outside of Pittsburgh. In addition to providing vocals\, Paul also splits time on the alto and tenor saxophones. Paul has an extensive repertoire of tunes encompassing the Great American Songbook- written by some of the best-known composers of American popular song. He is also well versed in early New Orleans jazz\, the Swing Era\, big band riffs\, and everything in between. Paul is known globally for his enthusiastic\, energetic\, and powerful performances. \nPaul Cosentino founded the Boilermaker Jazz Band in 1988. Paul has also been featured as a soloist with many of the top bands in the swing world today\, including a special appearance with the Jonathan Stout All-Star Big Band during an Artie Shaw tribute set. Paul has also been featured with Glen Crytzer’s Rhythm Makers\, Michael Gambles Rhythm Serenaders\, the Gordon Webster Band\, Naomi and Her Handsome Devils\, the Russ Wilson Swingtet\, Clint Baker’s Golden Gate Swing Band\, and many more. The second of three libraries built here in the Mon Valley\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was built for use by the common man but adorned with grandeur and opulence fit for a royal family. The Carnegie Library of Homestead is the oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the US\, and was chosen by CNN in 2014 as one of the 27 most fascinating libraries in the world to visit. Unique to other libraries\, it also is home to a full-service athletic facility and grand concert hall. \nAlso known as the Carnegie of Homestead\, its modern mission is to provide programs and facilities that enhance learning\, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley. Today\, we serve over 17\,000 residents of Munhall\, Homestead\, West Homestead\, Whitaker\, and families in nearby communities such as West Mifflin\, Lincoln Place\, Hays\, Greenfield\, Squirrel Hill\, Duquesne and more. The Carnegie of Homestead uplifts and improves the lives of youth\, families and the elderly\, by serving as a community activities center for families and groups throughout the Mon Valley. \nThe Library holds 3\,000\,000 county-wide items in collection including books\, audiobooks\, DVDs\, CDs\, newspapers\, magazines and eResources. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. Year-round\, the music hall serves as an economic driver for nearby restaurants\, retail establishments and hotels – for every 50 shows held\, the Carnegie brings over $1\,000\,000 in revenue to the Waterfront and Eighth Avenue business districts. Space rentals and ticket sales provide revenue to support the facility and programs that serve our community. “The Carnegie of Homestead is a textbook example of social enterprise and sustainability reinvention\,” experts say\, “by using revenue from the music hall and its fitness club memberships to stay viable.” The library’s core mission has been preserved\, and then some: you can check out a book or use a computer\, take a Spinning class\, learn to swim or enjoy a concert. \nAndrew Carnegie’s vision is alive today as the Carnegie of Homestead continues its dedication to the community by providing vital resources to families throughout the Mon Valley. DESCRIPTION:Borbo\, Prism and Friends at the Glitterbox Theater\nBorbo/Prism is an eponymous duo of artists. They hail from Bushwick\, Brooklyn- famously memed for its colorful cast of characters- where they work extensively in the DIY experimental performance art scene. \nPrism’s (they/she) work is focused on visual storytelling\, with a heavy reliance on folkloric imagery. Having come-of-age in the Appalachian countryside of Ohio\, their works’ themes often reflect on the conflicting reality of tradition and personal identity. Prism practices mostly in the mediums of conventional “feminine craft” (sewing\, embroidery\, applique\, textiles). They then force new meaning onto these heavily connotated mediums by enmeshing them with the performance art practices typically overrun with male artists (puppetry\, noise music\, clowning). \nBorbo (it/its) is a queer non-binary percussionist\, performance artist\, and noise clown. It draws inspiration from a wide range of genres\, including psychedelia\, free improvisation\, and jazz-fusion. Anything it can strike\, scrape or shake is a potential musical instrument – drum sets\, found objects\, toys\, and self-made percussive sculptures are all fair game. Borbo has also been observed using live electronics and contact mics as an electro-acoustic tool to augment its percussive sonic palette. A natural buffoon since birth\, Borbo rejects self-seriousness in favor of whimsy\, queering its own reality by transfiguring clown from performance art to lifestyle and gender. \nThe duo is currently on their Rust Belt Tour. Blending their typical acts with the essence of the road\, the themes have a bit more of a bite to them than they would in Brooklyn. Through this journey\, they hope to continue to curate a unique and whimsical craft to share with the world. The event also highlights the work of Mon Valley Initiative’s Southwestern Pennsylvania Re-Entry Coalition (SPARC)\, which supports successful re-entry and community connections throughout the region. \nFor additional information\, contact Mon Valley Initiative’s Workforce Team at 412-464-4000 \nserving the region since 1988\nThe Mon Valley communities — located south of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers in Allegheny\, Washington\, and Westmoreland counties — were deeply damaged more than 30 years ago when the driving forces of the region’s industrial economy moved away or closed. \nMon Valley Initiative\, founded in 1988\, works to improve the lives of people in the Mon Valley area by helping to rebuild community infrastructure\, provide safe and affordable housing\, and connect employers to people seeking new jobs and careers. \nWe do this by delivering quality services to the people of the Mon Valley\, including housing counseling\, workforce development and financial coaching\, real estate development\, and community development. \nOUR HISTORY\nIn the late 1970s and early 1980s\, U.S. Steel\, Westinghouse Electric\, WABCO\, Union Switch and Signal\, and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel all closed major manufacturing plants in the Monongahela Valley. Some sources indicate that as many as 175\,000 jobs were lost in the region when these plants closed. \nMajor industrial sites occupied hundreds of acres of land and as landowners\, the corporations were major taxpayers. Without this tax revenue\, communities in the Mon Valley were hard-pressed to provide basic services to their residents. People moved out\, and the Valley’s role as the engine of the Pittsburgh region’s economy was lost. \nAs factories were closing\, a number of business and industry leaders representing Pittsburgh’s largest corporations began an aggressive plan to address the problems that arose from the fall of heavy manufacturing. \nThrough the Allegheny Conference on Community Development\, the group focused its work on setting strategic investment strategies for the region to address the devastating economic decline. One of their recommendations included hiring a community organizer to find a way to encourage reinvestment in the Mon Valley. \nThat organizer\, Michael Eichler\, and key leaders and funders of the Allegheny Conference sought solutions directly from people who lived and worked in the Valley. They recommended strategies that offered a means to broadly engage local people in implementing economic and community development projects. \nIn addition to helping to form new grassroots organizations\, Eichler also provided support to community development corporations\, or CDCs\, that were already in existence. Through the Allegheny Conference\, the “Mon Valley Development Team” was formed in January 1987. \nIn April 1988\, the representatives of these grassroots CDCs began to discuss the possibility of forming a regional coalition. These discussions led to the incorporation of Mon Valley Initiative in December 1988.

Relics and remnants were captured\, so were oral histories. Prices at the ticket link reflect the all-in ticket price (face value + fees) – minus any taxes / credit card processing fees. \nThis event is recommended for all ages. \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeating Chart (click to view)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCarnegie of Homestead Seat Map (click to expand)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuilt in 1898\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was constructed by William Miller and Sons of Pittsburgh at a cost of $250\,000. The second of three libraries built here in the Mon Valley\, the Carnegie Library of Homestead was built for use by the common man but adorned with grandeur and opulence fit for a royal family. The Carnegie Library of Homestead is the oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the US\, and was chosen by CNN in 2014 as one of the 27 most fascinating libraries in the world to visit. Unique to other libraries\, it also is home to a full-service athletic facility and grand concert hall. \nAlso known as the Carnegie of Homestead\, its modern mission is to provide programs and facilities that enhance learning\, wellness and quality of life within and outside the Steel Valley. Today\, we serve over 17\,000 residents of Munhall\, Homestead\, West Homestead\, Whitaker\, and families in nearby communities such as West Mifflin\, Lincoln Place\, Hays\, Greenfield\, Squirrel Hill\, Duquesne and more. The Carnegie of Homestead uplifts and improves the lives of youth\, families and the elderly\, by serving as a community activities center for families and groups throughout the Mon Valley. \nThe Library holds 3\,000\,000 county-wide items in collection including books\, audiobooks\, DVDs\, CDs\, newspapers\, magazines and eResources. There are nearly 7\,000 cardholders (35% of our residents) and on average 733 people visit daily. 30 computers provide over 30\,000 online access sessions annually by the general public\, including disadvantaged individuals who cannot afford home computers and online services. The library holds over 1\,000 learning programs annually in which almost 20\,000 participate of all ages. On any given day\, a variety of activities are happening: toddler and children story time\, arts and crafts; science and art classes for homeschooled children; literacy outreach & book distribution to 30+ local preschools and daycare centers; homework assistance for teens equipped with computers and media; laptops and iPads with college-level computer programming\, and STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Arts\, Math) workshops including robotics in the Makerspace classroom; book clubs for teens through seniors\, knitting classes\, crafting workshops for adults\, and cultural programs such as Japanese or Russian language and psyanky egg decorating! \nThe Athletic Club hosts 1\,100 members who pay affordable fees to attend in Yoga\, Water Aerobics\, Spinning\, Tai Chi\, and Zumba classes in the fitness studios\, enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool\, gymnasium with a walking track\, and train for baseball/softball using our indoor batting cages. 200 youth participate in year-round sports lessons and 230 adults enjoy year-round basketball and volleyball leagues. 150 children and adults learned to swim\, participated in aquatics exercise and scuba instruction classes. 550 seniors are active members of our Silver Sneakers/Silver and Fit exercise classes geared to older adults. \nThe Music Hall seats 1\,045 guests in an intimate atmosphere that has changed very little from the original venue. In 2019\, 50\,000 patrons traveled from Western Pennsylvania and across the country to see nationally known entertainers such as American Idol\, Dave Chappelle\, Pete Davidson\, Boz Scaggs\, Sturgill Simpson\, Jeff Goldblum\, and more. The Music Hall uniquely serves also as a “community house” to local nonprofits offering meeting space for civic engagement\, programs and services such as graduation commencement exercises\, naturalization ceremonies\, school band concerts\, church plays and local dance recitals. Year-round\, the music hall serves as an economic driver for nearby restaurants\, retail establishments and hotels – for every 50 shows held\, the Carnegie brings over $1\,000\,000 in revenue to the Waterfront and Eighth Avenue business districts. Space rentals and ticket sales provide revenue to support the facility and programs that serve our community. “The Carnegie of Homestead is a textbook example of social enterprise and sustainability reinvention\,” experts say\, “by using revenue from the music hall and its fitness club memberships to stay viable.” The library’s core mission has been preserved\, and then some: you can check out a book or use a computer\, take a Spinning class\, learn to swim or enjoy a concert. \nAndrew Carnegie’s vision is alive today as the Carnegie of Homestead continues its dedication to the community by providing vital resources to families throughout the Mon Valley.
